Perfect for Beginners!
One-time Pottery Classes
Learn the basics of wheel throwing from an experienced instructor. You’ll learn how the wheel works, how to center clay, open and pull walls to make useful shapes like bowls and cylinders.
This class allows you to practice the basics and try your hand at any design you like! Your one-time class includes clay, instruction, trimming, bisque firing, painting in our Paint Studio and final glaze firing. A $25 deposit is required to reserve spot. Cost is $50 and includes first piece. Each additional piece is $5. Pieces are ready to glaze in 2 weeks. Have a group of 5-11? We can also organize a private session for you. Please contact the studio directly to make arrangements.
How it works
-
Choose from Friday at 7pm, Saturday at 1pm, or Saturday at 3:30.
A $25 deposit is required to reserve a spot. -
We recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting a little messy (any splatters should come out in the wash, though!)
Stop by a little early to see our paint and clay studios!
We are located at:
Suite #13 Williamsburg Center
223 South Pete Ellis Drive, Bloomington, IN 47408 -
You’ll suit up in a provided apron and learn from an experienced instructor to center clay, open your form, and shape a bowl. From there you can practice the basics with whatever forms that interest you!
-
Once your piece is finished, Pottery House Studio will trim and fire your piece in our kiln. When your piece is ready to paint in about two weeks, we’ll call you!
-
You can choose from a wide variety of paint-on glazes in our paint studio. You can choose a single color, layer different colors, or paint any design you like!
Once you’re done, we’ll add an optional clear glaze to your piece, then fire it again in our kiln.
-
Once your piece is ready for pick-up, we’ll reach out to let you know. Just come in to the studio to collect your work!
